Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has directed all political appointees and public servants intending to contest elective positions to resign from their posts within seven days.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Faruq Ibrahim, the governor gave affected officials until March 31, 2026, to either resign or retire from service.
Those affected include commissioners, special advisers, directors-general, executive secretaries, managing directors, and other senior officials.
The directive aims to ensure compliance with the Electoral Act and uphold neutrality, accountability, and integrity within the public service.
