As the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for the upcoming legislative elections, concerns have been raised about the geographical distribution of high-ranking roles and candidacies in the Ife Federal Constituency. Currently, several key positions are held by individuals from Ilare Ward in Ife Central Local Government, sparking fears of alienation in other areas, particularly Ife East.
A petition signed by Pastor Lazarus Tobi Abuah, on behalf of Mayegun Vanguard, urges APC stakeholders to consider Hon. Rotimi Makinde, a candidate from Ife East, for the federal constituency seat. Makinde has over 25 years of loyalty to the party and a proven track record of mobilization and contribution, particularly in the 2022 gubernatorial election.
The petition argues that Makinde’s candidacy would provide geographical balance and equity, as well as leverage his grassroots pedigree and institutional knowledge to secure a victory for the party.
