The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) interpretation of a recent Court of Appeal ruling, accusing the commission of caving to pressure from the government.
In a statement, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, claimed INEC’s press release is full of contradictions and that the commission has chosen to side with the government against the Nigerian people.
The ADC is reviewing its options and will make them known soon, urging members and Nigerians to remain steadefast. “Nigeria is rising. ADC is rising,” the statement concluded.
INEC had earlier issued a statement interpreting the Court of Appeal ruling, sparking controversy. The ADC’s reaction suggests a deepening rift between the opposition party and the electoral commission.
