President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of six nominees as Executive Directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
The nominations were contained in a letter to the Senate on Thursday, October 30, 2026, according to a State House Press Release issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the release, three of the nominees are being reappointed for a fresh five-year term, while three are new entrants into the Authority’s executive management.
The renominated Executive Directors are:
– *Mr Abiodun Adeniji* – Executive Director, Finance and Accounts
– *Mr Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha* – Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure
– *Dr Mustapha Lamorde* – Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community
The new Executive Directors are:
– *Mr Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa* – Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure
– *Ms Ogechukwu Modie* – Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning
– *Mr Said Abutalib* – Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration
President Tinubu urged the Senate to consider and confirm the nominations expeditiously to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity in the midstream and downstream petroleum sector.
In a related development, the President also approved the appointment of *Mrs Jumoke Gafar* as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of statutory processes under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
It would be recalled that in April, President Tinubu appointed *Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar* as the Chief Executive of the NMDPRA.
The NMDPRA, established under the PIA, is charged with regulating the midstream and downstream operations in Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
