The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, took a significant step on Saturday by inaugurating an eleven-member committee tasked with overseeing the effective implementation of interventions aimed at alleviating the economic challenges faced by Lagosians.

The committee, officially named the ‘Lagos State Special Dispensation Palliative Advisory Committee,’ was formally established during an inauguration ceremony held at Lagos House in Marina, Lagos Island.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the committee, chaired by himself and his Deputy, Obafemi Kadri, with the latter serving as the alternate chairman, would play a pivotal role in advising and generating innovative ideas to establish an engaging and rewarding ecosystem for the residents of Lagos.

The Special Dispensation Advisory Committee comprises esteemed individuals, including cabinet members, religious leaders, bipartisan groups spanning various political parties, activists, and other stakeholders. Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the committee members were carefully chosen for their ability to facilitate effective communication and reporting.

The bipartisan committee boasts a diverse lineup of influential members, including Imam Abdulazeez Onike (Chief Missioner, NASFAT), Hon Seyi Sowunmi (LP Reps member), Mrs. Joe Okei-Odumakin, Hon Kolade Alabi, Barrister Taofeeq Ganiu (PDP Secretary), Dr. Shina Fagbenro-Byron (LP member, former DFID official), Hon. Ademola Shabi (Rep, LAHA), Comrade Biliaminu Oba (Youth Representative), Mrs. Sola Salako-Ajulo (Consumer Rights Advocate), Pastor Gorman Akinlabi (Senior Pastor, Elevation Church), and Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of LG, serving as the committee secretary.

The committee has already conducted its introductory meeting, during which members deliberated on the rules of engagement for the interventions, reflecting the collective commitment to addressing the economic hardships faced by the people of Lagos State.
