In what seem to be a warm up campaign; PDP stormed the late Chief Gani Fawihemi Freedom park few weeks back in a rally to remind Lagosians that the party is ready for the race to the Alausa’s government house office come 2015. The event had in attendance great men and women of the party as they joyfully celebrated obviously their winning of Ekiti and in anticipation of August 9th, 2014 victory in Osun State.
While speaking the chairman of the party Lagos chapter, Mr. Tunji Shelle, said the party is ready to take over Lagos state as it did in Ekiti and on the verge of taking Osun, while promising Lagosians of another time to smile in Lagos again, he further reiterated the fact that Lagos belongs to all Nigerians no matter your tribe, religion and status. By this, he demonstrated a sharp contrast from the policy of the ruling APC in deporting non-citizens of Lagos. He further assured the motor cyclist riders popularly called “Okada riders “that work will be created for them. In what seem to be a confirmation of his promise, one could see hundreds of young men and women under the employment of Federal Task Force courtesy of the SURE P programme.
Among the notable faces at the event included the Defence Minister for State Senator Musiliu Obanikoro who took time to greet the cheering crowed at him. Also some gubernatorial aspirants took time to greet the crowd. Though the chairman of party Mr. Shelle confirmed that some of them are yet to make their interest official, which he said is a welcome development as it will create room for the electorate to choose the best amongst them during the party’s primary.
