The Peoples Democratic Party has formally endorsed a broad opposition alliance aimed at defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, the PDP said it is backing the *G-100 process* — a coalition of 100 opposition stalwarts working to create an “all-opposition front” to challenge the incumbent APC government.
The party said the decision was driven by “the wailings of Nigerians groaning under the repressive Bola Tinubu APC-led Federal Government” and the need to unite with other credible political forces “in search of the country’s redemption.”
According to PDP National Chairman, *Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN*, the party’s participation is conditional on the process being guided by specific principles.
“Our participation is anchored on the promise that the process will be hinged on the philosophical underpinnings of transparency, equality, data-driven decisions and egalitarianism,” Turaki said.
“Any result birthed by a process midwifed by these virtues will certainly offer Nigerians a credible leadership capable of alleviating the skyrocketing poverty and rising insecurity in the country.”
*Building on earlier outreach*
The PDP said the move aligns with its earlier stated position of working with like-minded political parties and organisations to “salvage the country from the many vices orchestrated by the ruling APC.”
The party disclosed that it participated in the *first meeting of the G-100 on August 31, 2026*, describing it as further proof of its commitment to an opposition platform that will “take power from the incumbent and rebuild Nigeria for the good of all Nigerians.”
The G-100 is positioning itself as a coalition of opposition leaders, civil society actors and political stakeholders seeking to present a united front against the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
The PDP’s entry adds significant weight to the alliance, given the party’s nationwide structure and status as Nigeria’s main opposition party since 2015.
