Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed a viral quote attributed to him claiming he has “accumulated enough money to never be broke again” as false and misleading.

In a statement, Adelabu’s Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Bolaji Tunji, described the claim as part of a sustained campaign of misinformation targeting the minister ¹ ².

The controversy arose after a purported resignation letter and the wealth claim circulated online, both of which Adelabu’s office has denied. Tunji linked the wave of disinformation to Adelabu’s rising political profile, particularly his reported interest in contesting the Oyo State governorship seat on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

Adelabu urged the public to disregard the false reports and rely on verified sources, warning against spreading unverified content.

This isn’t the first time Adelabu has faced such allegations; he previously denied claims of building a lavish mansion within two years of his appointment, attributing the controversy to a misinformation campaign ³.
