In a major breakthrough, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized a massive stash of counterfeit medicines worth over ₦300 million in a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.
The fake pharmaceuticals seized include Amoxicillin 500mg, Ampicloxa capsules 500mg, and packaging materials for Augmentin capsules 625mg. These counterfeit medicines pose severe health risks, including treatment failure, organ damage, and potential carcinogenic effects due to unknown compositions ¹.
NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement team carried out the raid, which resulted in the facility being placed on hold and all illegal products being evacuated. The suspect has been invited for questioning, and investigations are ongoing.
