The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reviewed the reporting and examination times for the first session of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Under the new schedule, candidates are to arrive at their designated Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres by 7:30 a.m., instead of the previous 6:30 a.m. The first session will now start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 10:30 a.m.
The Board announced the change in its weekly bulletin released on Sunday in Abuja, noting that the adjustment is to address safety and logistical challenges faced by candidates who travel long distances to their centres.
According to JAMB, the decision followed extensive deliberations at its 2026 Management and IT Retreat held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, from September 6 to 11.
The retreat considered public concerns about the risks of pre-dawn travel and the likelihood of absenteeism associated with the earlier 6:30 a.m. reporting time.
JAMB said shifting the arrival time by one hour would enhance candidates’ safety, convenience and overall examination experience.
The Board added that other sessions will retain their existing schedules.
