The founder and national leader of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), has responded to allegations made by Dr. Umar Ardo, describing them as “misguided and sponsored propaganda”.
In a statement on his verified X handle, the NDC leader Senator Seriake Dickson expressed shock and disappointment at Dr. Ardo’s consistent attacks on the party, despite their long-standing friendship and political alliance. Dickson explained that the NDC’s registration process began in 2017, and the party was only able to revive its application after INEC lifted the embargo on registration of political parties last year.
The NDC had faced challenges, including INEC’s refusal to register the party due to a supposed similarity between its logo and that of the APC. However, the party took the matter to court and won, with INEC subsequently announcing the NDC as one of the registered political parties in the country.
The leader noted that Dr. Ardo is aware of the NDC’s struggles and had even sought advice on how to navigate the registration process. The NDC leader expressed disappointment that Dr. Ardo is now trying to undermine the party’s achievements, while remaining silent on the registration of other parties, such as the NDP, which also went through the court process.
The NDC is gaining momentum, with Nigerians from across the country and abroad registering to join the party. The party’s officers are working hard to promote the NDC, and the leader is receiving top politicians from various parties ¹.
