Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has described Abia women as the bedrock of the family and vital partners in building the New Abia pledging that his administration will continue to prioritize women’s empowerment.

The Governor made the remarks on Monday at the grand finale of the 2026 Abia Women August Delegates Conference, AWADEC, held in Umuahia.
“I joined our remarkable Abia women to celebrate their strength and resilience,” Governor Otti said.
“They are, indeed, the bedrock of the family and vital partners in building the New Abia. Their courage and commitment continue to shape our homes, communities, and State.”

He assured that government policies will focus on giving women the right tools and opportunities to thrive, stressing that investment in women translates to stronger families and a better future for the next generation.
“Together, we will raise children who succeed, build stronger families, and secure brighter futures,” he added.

The Governor also commended the First Lady of Abia State, *Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti*, for her interventions in support of vulnerable women through housing projects, business initiatives, and the *Safe Tent Care programme*.
“Her vision reminds us that women are not just beneficiaries of development, but architects of it,” Governor Otti stated.
In her message to women across the State, the Governor urged them to remain resolute and seize opportunities for growth.
“To every Abia woman: remain resolute, embrace opportunities, and continue to lead with courage. The New Abia is stronger because of you,” he said.
The 2026 AWADEC, an annual gathering of women delegates from across the 17 LGAs of Abia State, serves as a platform to deliberate on issues affecting women and to align community action with the government’s development agenda.
