The Labour Party Women’s Wing has expressed support for the party’s national chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, and national secretary, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, amidst a leadership crisis.

In a communiqué, the women’s wing condemned the “gestapo-like tactics” used by a rival group to take over the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

The women leaders appreciated the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) refusal to dissolve the validly-elected state congress and applauded the steps taken by Abure and Ibrahim to appeal a Federal High Court judgment.

They resolved to stand with the duo and recognize them as the authentic leadership of the party.

The women’s wing also gave their maximum support to the resolutions of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on March 17, 2026, and called on all women in the party to stand firm and prepare for massive mobilization from the grassroots up to ensure success in the coming polls.
